The Heart, The SpiRitual, The Material, & The Home: Centering Translingual Practices of Three Montreal-Based Artists Embedded in Song

My MA research project is about the often over-looked language practices embedded within the songs and cultural production of three multilingual, woman identifying, singers-songwriters and musicians based in Tio’tia:ke | Montreal: Noé Lira, Willows, and Ultra K.

Indigenous Cultural Production and Narrative Sovereignty: Whose Story? Whose Medium? Whose Voice?

In partnership with Wapikoni Mobile, this project aims to create a dialogue about Narrative Sovereignty in order to explore concepts such as narrative identity, Indigenous aesthetics, and cultural ownership. This project centers the epistemologies of Indigenous artists, activists, and community-workers.

The Writingworld Project

This SSHRC-funded project aims to study how minoritized populations’ literacy practices are scrutinized by gatekeepers such as institutions, associations, professions, assessors, teachers, and publishers.

Writing in Times of Crisis

This project explores writers’ experiences with writing during periods of calamity, instability, uncertainty, and lack of literacy resources. The project contains multiple studies of people who engage with writing and publishing in times of trauma and tragedy.
